Manchester United have been showing tremendous interest in Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas over the last month. They have had two offers for the player rejected by the Spanish club. The latest offer of around £ 35 million will break the transfer record of the United. Even then, they are extremely keen to complete the signing in the hope of strengthening their midfield, which was one of the weakest points of last season. Barcelona, though, have been adamant that they will not sell the player under any price and circumstance.
Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta recently suggested that the Manchester United had given up the interest in Fabregas after receiving no encouragement from the Catalan club. Moyes, though, has said that would not talk about any potential third bid for the Spaniard. It is also thought that Manchester United have turned their attention from Fabregas to Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who is someone Moyes knows extremely well from his time at Everton. In fact, Moyes was the manager responsible for bringing the Belgian midfielder to English football.
He has become one of the best players in the Premier league, and he would cost relatively less than Fabregas at just £ 25 million. Moyes has said on several occasions that there is money available for him to spend.
“Manchester United are interested in the player, but it’s also true that they understand our position of not wanting to sell. They have renounced his signing. We aren’t going to sell him. He’s an extraordinary player who creates and finishes chances. We are delighted with him. He’s the number four of Barca,” said Zubizarreta. “What I know is Fabregas will stay one more year at least in Barcelona. That’s the information I have. If that changes, I don’t know, but that is what I have been told,” said Wenger.
