Pedro confident Fabregas will be back in the starting line-up

Chelsea winger Pedro is confident that midfielder Cesc Fabregas will be able to make a bigger way back into the starting lineup.

The Spaniard has fallen way down the pecking order under Antonio Conte. The Italian has also not been helped by the fact that Chelsea do not have enough matches to offer playing time to the rest of the squad. It is clear that Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante is the preferred midfield combination. However, lack of the Champions League action means that there is no way Fabregas is getting gametime.

The former Barcelona midfielder has been linked heavily with an exit from Stamford Bridge even as early as in the January transfer window. Even though Conte has come out in support of the player and claims that the midfielder has a future at Chelsea, it is looking highly unlikely with the transfer window about to open.

Fabregas last played for the club in the 3-0 loss against Arsenal. He was given a rare start by Conte after he made a huge impression in the 4-2 win over Leicester City in the EFL Cup. However, a disastrous first half from Chelsea resulted in Fabregas being hauled off after just 55 minutes.

Chelsea’s impressive form in the last few weeks has also made it highly unlikely for Conte to even consider using Fabregas at the moment. “He is fine, he is quiet. Obviously his situation is difficult but he is training very well and the relationship with the teammates is perfect.Surely he will have an opportunity because he is a great player,” said Pedro, who shares a great friendship with Fabregas from his time at Barcelona. The examples of Pedro and Victor Moses being a regular first-team players are saying that Conte goes by the performances and not by previous reputation.
