CESC CONFIDENT
The former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that he is extremely confident that Barcelona will be able to get past Malaga in the second leg of the quarter-final clash between the two clubs. Barcelona will be coming up against Malaga in the quarter-final stage of the Copa del Rey looking to overcome a team that managed a 2-2 draw in the first leg. Barcelona looked home and dry in the first leg itself when they managed to take a two-goal advantage before the second half. However, a fantastic second half from Malaga meant that the game finished 2-2.
As a result, Malaga come into the match tonight with real confidence especially since they are playing at home. The Copa del Rey remains as one of the important competitions in Spain, and Barcelona have expressed their desire to win this tournament. The midfielder Xavi has been speaking recently about the possibility of matching the achievements of 2008/09 season when they managed to win six trophies during the year. Barcelona come into the encounter on the back of a poor run of form, which has seen them not win the match in the last two. They have also suffered their first league defeat of the season at the hands of Real Sociedad.
“It is our most important match so far this season – it is our first final. We will approach it like any other difficult game. We cannot lose our identity. When you play so many games against the same opponent, you obviously know them well. Little things could make the difference. We already played a great game in Malaga, and in the first leg we could have scored more goals. We have to be confident that we can get a result even though they will not make it easy for us,” said Fabregas.

FABREGAS RULED OUT
The Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been ruled out for the next few weeks after suffering a thigh injury in the recent match against Real Betis. After struggling to assert himself under the new management of Tito Vilanova early in the campaign, Cesc Fabregas has become one of the important players for the team in the last few weeks. This will be a major injury blow to Vilanova, who will now be looking to replace him with the fit again David Villa. Fabregas was on the pitch for just 9 min and suffered an injury, which meant that he had to be replaced by the Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez.
The club have now confirmed on their website that the midfielder is now facing a lengthy spell on the injury table, which means that you will not be available for return before the start of the New Year. However, it was not all bad news for Barcelona from this match because they managed a 2-1 victory over the team that achieved a win over Real Madrid only a few weeks ago. Lionel Messi scored both goals in this victory, which helped him get past the record set by the German striker Gerd Mueller for the most number of goals in a calendar year. Messi now has 86 goals in 2012.
“FC Barcelona’s medical services have confirmed that Cesc Fabregas has torn the bicep femoris in his left thigh. He’ll be sidelined for three to four weeks. Therefore, he’ll miss the team’s last three games in 2012 – the two Liga matches against Atletico Madrid and Valladolid and the away leg of the Copa del Rey against Cordoba. He could also miss the first games of 2013, against Espanyol and the return leg of the cup at the Camp Nou,” said a Barcelona statement.

CESC WORRIED ABOUT TEAM
The Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that he is extremely worried about the defensive performances by the team at the camp Nou this season. Even though Barcelona have maintained an unbeaten start to the new season with yet another win over Deportivo la Coruna, the 5-4 victory could have easily been in favour of the away team. Barcelona could have easily lost the eight-point advantage over Real Madrid in the table according to the former Arsenal midfielder. He is hoping that the team recovers from this poor defensive form before it is too late. After being on the bench for most of the first few matches, Cesc Fabregas has started playing a more important role in the team in the last few weeks.
He has said that he is enjoying his new found confidence in the team and is hoping to continue the same. The new Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova has certainly made some changes to the system used by Pep Guardiola in the last four years. Even though it is very similar when looked upon vaguely, many pundits and media have criticised the way it has allowed Barcelona to concede a lot of goals this season. However, it has made them a little more potent in attack.
“It will be a difficult game against Celtic on Tuesday night, they are a good side and always make it a tough match. We won the three points against Deportivo — but it’s clear we now have to analyse the four goals they scored against us. We simply have to improve in the future as we conceded too many goals, but we are in a good mood. It’s not easy to play a game like that after international break,” said Fabregas. Barcelona have 25 points from the nine matches played so far.

WENGER WILL KEEP ARSENAL TOP
The former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that he is confident that the manager Arsene Wenger will be able to capable of keeping Arsenal at the top level until he is present at the club. The Barcelona midfielder left the Premier league club last season for £ 35 million to play for the Spanish club.
However, he has said that he will always remain a loyal supporter of both Barcelona and Arsenal after having played for the Premier league club for more than eight years. The manager Arsene Wenger has been at Arsenal for more than 15 years.
During this period, he has not allowed the standard set Arsenal to drop to a position whereby they are not competing for the top four positions. The 24-year-old Spaniard Cesc Fabregas reckons that it will stay the same as long as Arsene Wenger is at the club. He has also thanked the Frenchman by saying that he has played a major role in shaping his football to the level that it is right now. Fabregas has been quoted as being extremely unhappy as a substitute at Barcelona. He has not been favoured by the new manager Tito Villanova, who was the assistant manager when Fabregas arrived at the club.
“Arsene Wenger is amazing and I’m sure he will prove it again this season. He always finds the best young talent in Europe and has the courage to bring them in and give them their chance. That is his special talent, the way he works with a player to build their confidence and encourage them to play, to perform at their best. That’s why I’m confident that Arsenal will again be up there challenging,” said Fabregas. Arsenal moved into the third position in the Premier league table following the 6-1 thumping of Southampton.
